2018 Dell Technology Championship First Round Leader Bets
The second playoff event of the FedEx Cup kicks off tomorrow from TPC Boston. Under new sponsorship, the Dell Technologies Championship will see 98 men tee it up with aspirations of keeping themselves in contention for the $10 million jackpot. Rickie Fowler (injury) and Francesco Molinari (opted out) are the only absentees this week. TPC Boston is a familiar course that measures over 7,300 yards and contains some of the quickest greens on Tour. Strokes gained approaching the green and strokes gained putting will be key areas to target this week. Here are my two picks that I feel can get off to a hot start on Friday.
Nick Watney – Watney is a very streaky player, and a T11 finish at Ridgewood last week suggests that it’s a good time to get in on him for a quick start in Boston. Watney ranks in the top 25% for round one scoring average this year, and at the Northern Trust, he tied his best performance with his irons for the year. Watney finished T44 at TPC Boston last year but was hindered by an abysmal week on the greens. Watney has gained strokes in each of his previous four starts, and the putter was especially hot last week where he gained 4.4 strokes on the greens.
Joel Dahmen – He may have missed the cut last week, but a closer inspection shows that one hole undid Dahmen. The American made a quad from the middle of the fairway during second round action, and besides that Dahmen only made one other bogey over the two days. Dahmen has still managed an impressive seven top-20 finishes from his last 11 starts, and the American ranks fifth in strokes gained approaching and third in ball striking over his previous 24 rounds. Dahmen also sits T6 for the season in round one scoring average.
Recommended Bets (All Each Way)

• Joel Dahmen 150/1 (5 places)
