Fresh off a runner-up finish at the Matchplay and a solid T-28 at Augusta, Kevin Kisner should be feeling good as he comes to a course that is a perfect fit for his game.
In the past, Kisner has excelled around Harbour Town. In 2015 he finished runner-up, and last year he recorded a T-11, which would have been much better had he not struggled mightily on Sunday.
Kisner will be glad to return to a golf course where power off the tee is not a pre-requisite for success. His short game has been solid all year, and he sits 8th in Strokes Gained-Putting for the season.
It’s a golf course where I expect to see Kisner win at some stage in his career. He possesses the ideal game to succeed here and it may even be this week that he breaks through. 4/1 to record a Top 10 finish is an excellent price, as it’s difficult to see Kisner not excelling around Harbour Town once more.
It wasn’t long ago that Kevin Na would be going off at 5/4 to record a Top 20 finish. But an uncharacteristically poor 2017 has seen his prices increase this year. Much of that poor form can be put down to the birth of his daughter which saw his priorities change.
This year his results have improved although they are still not yet at the level that saw him record Top 10 finishes for fun pre 2017. Na has made five straight cuts which shows that consistency is coming back into his game. The highlight was a T-2 just three events ago at the Genesis Open where he played beautifully.
Harbour Town should fit Na nicely. His lack of length off the tee is an issue at most golf courses, but this short course which has a premium on accuracy gives him an advantage. He proved that here back in 2016 when he finished T-4th.
Another thing in Na’s favour is the state of his short game. Over the past 12 rounds, Na ranks 1st in Strokes Gained-Short Game, 5th in Strokes Gained-Around the Green and 2nd in Strokes Gained-Putting. His fabulous work around the greens helps him to 3rd in Strokes Gained-Total in the field over the same period.
At a generous price of 5/2, it’s worth backing Na to notch another Top 20 finish around Harbour Town.
