2018 Valspar Championship PGA OAD Picks
Another very exciting weekend on the PGA Tour, at the WGC Mexico. Another week, another playoff and this one resulted in a huge win for Phil Mickelson over Justin Thomas. It was Phil’s first win in almost 5 years, while it was JT’s 3rd playoff of the early season and his first loss in a playoff. This week the guys head back to Florida for the Valspar Championship. The guys will have to navigate the “Snake Pit” and use some precision to go low and try to win. Let’s see who the guys like to win this week.
|Last Week’s Earnings||$239,750||$104,300||$182,000||$73,000|
|Last Week’s Player||Dustin Johnson||Jon Rahm||Bubba Watson||Justin Rose|
|This Week’s Pick||Henrik Stenson||Adam Scott||Paul Casey||Kevin Streelman|
@DFSGolfGods- If only the tournament was 11 holes we would’ve had a winner last week. Bubba got off to a hot start, but I’ll take the top 10. This week I’m going to burn Paul Casey. If you know me then you know I have a special place in my hear for PC. He has to win at some point, or at least that is what I keep telling myself as I place another win bet on him.
@AllDayEvery365- Adam Scott – We’re doing it live! All I’ve heard is this tournament is tough on the average tour event so I’m washing away anyone who played in the WGC Mexico due to travel and changes in course structure. Then, I research and see if your approach game stinks this week, then you’re going to stink. Happy Gilmore is gaining more strokes putting than Adam (I get it. It’s bad), but his other stats are just way too good to ignore here. He ranks second in SG: Approach his last twelve rounds and is coming off a solid weekend at the Honda Classic with similar conditions. He gains more and more strokes as the difficult in wind continues to rise. Add in the fact he’s getting the AM/PM wave (same winds all day Thursday, less difficult in Friday PM) and the low ownership you could get a World Top 6 player from year ago, it seems like the Valspar is always willing to give us a random winner.
@KevinsDelight- Last week I had my hands tied and took DJ to complete my Skin money in a OAD other thank Gup’s. All I needed was a top-20 finish or higher so I fired a bullet with DJ. He wasn’t sharp but he was good enough to secure a $1,000 skin backing up my JT win at Honda. I’m still in the mix in Gup’s OAD and currently reside in 253rd place with $2,052,351 earned on the year. Time to fire another bullet…
Copperhead is a tough stop on the PGA TOUR. Low scoring doesn’t happen often. The purse this week isn’t spectacular by standards held by The Masters, WGC’s, The PLAYERS, or other big events. With that said, most participants in the OAD might take a flier on a lower level guy and try to avoid using a big name in this spot. I’ll go contrarian and fire a bullet. I’ll pass on Rory, Jordan, Sergio, as I already have those 3 penciled in later in the year. Instead I’ll take a shot with Henrik. Stenson hasn’t played much recently but has tremendous course history with a 4th in 2015, 11th in 2016, and 7th last year. I’m ok using Henrik in this spot. If you’d prefer to go elsewhere give these guys a look: Ryan Moore, Charl Schwartzel, and Matt Kuchar.
@Bdentrek- I’ll keep this short and sweet this week. I am taking a guy with solid form. A rather accurate striker. A player that has won here before. I am going with STREELS, Kevin Streelman.
