2018 WGC Mexico OAD Picks

Get ready for this week's PGA Tour action with the 2018 WGC Mexico OAD Picks.

2018 WGC Mexico OAD Picks

Well, the beast known as PGA National and especially “the Bear Trap” held strong. There were casualties all over the Honda Classic and it showed in last week’s OAD picks, well for some. Jesse had the misfortune of a Martin Kaymer WD, while Rob had a missed cut with Ryan Palmer. There was some good for the group as Bubba had a made cut from Gary Woodland, but that didn’t lead to much money. The big winner of the week, and seriously was the WINNER, was Kevin with his pick of Justin Thomas. This week the tour heads to Mexico, for the WGC Mexico. It is the second year at this course and it is a 64 man field with no cut. Everyone will be paid this weekend, so some take more of a chance, while some go for the hay maker. Let’s see who the guys like with their 2018 WGC Mexico PGA OAD Picks.

@KevinsDelight- Thank you Justin Thomas for a nice W this past week at the Honda. The win catapulted me more than 1,000 spots in Gup’s OAD. In another OAD I participate it, I was the only player to pick JT. The rules of that pool stipulate that if you are the only player to get a win then follow it up with a top 20 the following week you win a skin.  A cool $1,000 skin!!!  So with a WGC I really like my chances this week.

My mindset has changed for this event now that I have a skin possibility.  Initially I felt like no cut events would allow me to really open up the playbook and pick long shots.  Now that I have a chance to secure a skin with a Top 20, I gravitate straight to DJ. I have to right?  Sure there are plenty of great options like, Fleetwood, Sergio, Rahm, shit nearly anyone in the field for that matter.  When it came down to it, I really only considered 3 guys.  DJ, Fleetwood, and Rahm.

I’ll trust my gut again this week and fire DJ. Sure I lose a great player but have a great chance at back to back W’s!!!

Best of luck this week. I’m rooting for a win but a Top 20 will suffice..

@DFSGolfGods- Thanks Kaymer! That WD takes the lead from me and gives it to Kevin (*cough*Bullshit). Anyway moving on to this week.  I’m going with Bubba Watson in hopes that we get 2 straight winners here that have won 2 weeks prior at the Genesis.  Let’s just hope no one pulls a Stenson from last year and calls it a day before they sign their card.

@AllDayEvery365- Jon Rahm – Had Rahm pinpointed for this tournament after he took a couple of weeks off from the early part of the season. Rahm’s approach game has regressed, but actually improved at the AT&T Pro-Am. His Off-the-Tee stats have not. At all. He sits second in this talented field in SG:OTT in his last eight rounds and the last time he didn’t gain strokes Off-the-Tee was his last non-major missed cut at the Memorial. His third place finish last year as a rookie showed he could play well in very talented fields and with the likes of Rory and Jason Day also out, DJ and JT are the only two he really needs to dodge at this point. I have to play a big guy this week, even at a no-cut event, because I think the top talent seem to play well at this type of course.

@bdentrek- Well another made cut last week by Gary Woodland, but the weekend wasn’t kind and it only netted a small return. This week we go a little chalky, or at least that’s how it seems. I’ll be looking at a golfer that has been a Top 10 machine in the last 6 months or so on the PGA & Euro tours. He has 10 Top 10’s in WGC events alone, with 2 wins, one which was late last year. I will be rolling with the one and only, Justin Rose.
