EPL DFS Week 1 Preview

Pretty last second, but I figured it might be appealing to the masses if I put together a quick DFS quick hits for tomorrow.  If you didn’t see it earlier, I wrote up a few games and bets that were appealing to me for the weekend.  I added a few over the week and you can find them on my TL (@Squanto8) and you can check there for any updates on DFS or changes in betting angles.  For tomorrow’s six game DK slate,  my favorite attacking options are definitely Chelsea and City forwards/fullbacks.  They will definitely be chalk, but there a couple interesting punts that could separate you from other people.  Let’s dive in:

The obvious expensive plays here are Courtois and Ederson in cash.  They have fantastic matchups but will likely see minimal opportunities to rack up points for saves.  A CS and win are both possible.  I’m opting for something different

Jordan Pickford (5300)– My favorite GK play for the day.  He’s a good goalie first, and now moving to Everton has a much better (not great, but better) defense ahead of him.  As I touched on last week, Stoke don’t really move my dick on offense and losing Arnautovic is huge.  Couple saves, CS, and a W please.

Wayne Hennessey (5500) – Another top home matchup against a newly promoted team.  I expect a win, but he’s just not as trustworthy as City/Chelsea.  I won’t chance Huddersfield stealing one against the Methheads when Pickford is cheaper.

Asmir Begovic (4400) – if you want to go cheaper, I’m a big fan of the Cherries this weekend.  On the road, he should see quite a bit of activity and could rack up some saves, as well as steal a CS or a win against a not that good Baggies side.  Also lets you spend up a little more in other spaces

I’ll group these quickly in order.

  • Man City defenders (Walker/Danilo) – expensive, but they’ll get you value. Would rather have either of them vs

  • Chelsea defenders (Alonso/Azpilicueta) but Pili is a steal this week starting in Moses’s WB role at 4300. He is definitely a good option if he helps you fit in the City/Chelsea attacking players

  • Patty Van Aanholt (4900) is a DFS darling, and he could be a good pivot off the City defenders as well as Mason Holgate (4500) or Cuco Martina (4800), whoever starts for Seamus Coleman. Should also note that Antonio Rudiger has played some RB and could play RWB for Chelsea, but I doubt it.

Best of the rest: Ryan Bertrand (5100), Leighton Baines (5300), Charlie Daniels (4500)

KDB (10400) is the best play on the slate. He has been unreal in the preseason and has been a proven fantasy stud over the years.  Pivots off him would be Sterling (8000) and Sane (7100).  It’s a great matchup for everyone, so don’t be afraid to differentiate in GPPs!

Cesc Fabregas (7500) is probably the best “bargain guy” for this week with Pedro and Hazard sidelined. Willian (8300) is also a prime candidate to step up for Hazard but Cesc will be on penalties and kicks for Chelsea on Saturday.  See the common theme here?

Luka Milivojevic (3300) – I am assuming he’s starting, and he’s on PKs and direct FKs.  For pretty much min price. In a really good home matchup. Yes please.  Let’s you get the premium guys pretty comfortably. The best punt on the slate.  CP is also a strong pivot for GPPs, with Wilfried Zaha (8200), Andros Townsend (7800 if he plays? Might see RLC idk), and James Puncheon (4700) as options.  Gotta go a little against the grain to win!

Best of the rest: Dusan Tadic (7300), Matt Phillips (6400) and Jay Rodriguez (5100), Tom Ince (4600)

Guess what I’m gonna say? Yeah, it’s City all day

Aguero (10200) and Gabriel Jesus (9800) are the top two options, and really take your pick.  I personally think Aguero outscores Jesus this week and hope he’s less owned just bc people are all over Jesus’s dick (the poetry of that sentence is not lost on me).  Anyway, you probably want two of Aguero, Gabby, and KdB.  City is a much safer (and higher upside) option than

Chelsea’s bumblefuck F situation.  I want to love Michy and I doubt Morata starts, but he hasn’t instilled confidence in me after the Community Shield. Whoever starts could do as well as one of the Citeh guys, but again more of a GPP thing and the upside isnt as high.  2K price difference can make up a lot though.  Would still run out Willian/Fab ahead of either.

The Rest – Benteke (7800), Joshua King/Jermain Defoe (7800/6300 if healthy), Gabbiadini (6900), Jordan Ayew (5300, on PK duty without Gylfi?), Sandro (7100)

And that’s it. Sorry for such a late post, but hopefully you’ll find it useful.  As always, any questions or comments feel free to reach me on twitter. Up the blues!
