2018 NHL Metropolitan Division Preview

2018 NHL Metropolitan Division Preview

Whats up guys! First time posting, with NHL just around the corner, I will be leading you guys through the 2018-2019 NHL Season and boy is it going to be a fun one. I’m telling you guys, this season of pucks is going to be amazing, this fast pace NHL makes it a lot more fun to watch…especially if you’re a Overs bettor (What I love betting on in NHL). Let’s get back to the topic at hand…NHL Futures. Here I will be displaying season totals and other Futures for you guys to bet on.  I will be sharing key acquisitions per team to start off and move towards more detailed previews on teams as the season progresses. This will be a good indication on teams I feel will have a great season, and teams I think will be battling for Jack Hughes (2019 projected first overall pick). Going to start off with the Metropolitan Division. This division I feel is competitive but there are the for sure top tier teams and the bottom dwellers.

Carolina impressed a lot of people last year, Aho emerged and I think will break-out for 30 goals this year esp with Svechnikov and Zykov on his side. Adding Hamilton helps them improve their offense, that had 2.74 Goals per game. Columbus is my big time sleeper in this division, but it will be tough as they lost Seth Jones for 4-6 weeks. Bobrovski is one of the better goaltenders in this division, and I cannot believe I that this team has bought into Tortorella system. Last year, New Jersey shocked everyone, as Hall emerged as the Hart Trophy winner, but this year I feel with their goalie tandem of Schneider and Kinkaid, will bring them down, as the Devils will struggle to find a true #1 as Schneider injuries may drag on. Islanders are now in the “Barzal-Era”, who will try to lead the team after the departure of John Tavares. Losing Tavares is a big loss for the Islanders, and they are going to rely on Barzal to orchestrate this team. Islanders added tons of gritty guys, but these guys will struggle to keep up with the current NHL. The New York Rangers, a team that carried a ton of talent, but found the bottom of the barrel recently. They appear to be in rebuild mode, as they have not made significant acquisitions, rolling with the same team as last year. It will be a tough season for Rangers fans, but they will be better than Ottawa, thats for sure! James Van Riemsdyk, joins a highly talented Flyers team, full of playmakers. JVR will be eating from the passing of Jakub Voracek, Claude Giroux, and the Flyers offense will improve from last year. The only problem they face is their goaltending, as they have yet to have found a #1 goalie since Hextall (Yeah everyone has used this line before), but it’s true. Brian Elliot has shown glimpses of being a steady goalie but has also struggled last year. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins, you can never count this team out any season as they always find a way to continue to be in Stanley cup discussions. With guys like Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Matt Murray and Phil the Thrill, this team will continue to win games, and continue to be a #1 or #2 team in the Metro division. Finally, the Stanley Cup Champs, Washington Capitals, who I think will not be able to repeat what they did last year, but it is not for the reason everyone thinks (The Stanley Cup hangover). I believe the loss of Grubauer will prove costly, and cost them some wins when Holtby struggles.
